Tesla’s Business Model is Dark MAGA Fascism

Tesla’s success has always depended on there being enough of a middle class who can afford their expensive cars. In a nation where more and more of us are living paycheck to paycheck though, their business model just doesn’t make sense. Many still hold out hope that without Musk, the company could return to some sort of normal. Despite their misplaced optimism, Musk has actually pivoted Tesla’s business model to save the company with Dark MAGA fascism.

Tesla’s business model has always depended on a so-called green economy, one where everyone makes “progress” toward becoming middle class. In reality, it’s more accurately understood through concepts like “green colonialism,” the “imperial mode of living,” or older terms like “Malthusian Social Darwinism.” Regardless, middle classes have been declining for decades. Back in the days of Weimar’s Germany, they called this process “proletarian-ization.” Hitler seized on it.

The social democrats missed that boat back then, which is why the Nazis called themselves “National Socialists” and how they peeled off poor and working classes. To learn where this stands today, check out California Governor Gavin Newsom’s new love affair with Steve Bannon. Too bad not even the “democratic socialists” on their “Fight Oligarchy” tour realize that their too little too late electoralism has already been encircled. Rather than build a movement that takes to the streets, they keep people glued to a Democratic Party that refuses to fight.

Tesla’s Business Model Today

With this middle class base of support in free fall, rapidly increased competition, and now with hatred for Musk skyrocketing, Tesla’s swasticar sales are nose-diving. The more Tesla’s car sales drop-off, the fewer carbon credits they can sell to the other auto companies too. Since 2012, 34% of the company’s profits have come from this carbon credit government subsidy. Trump will probably get rid of the program, maybe the EU too.

A long awaited lower-priced model is still up in the air, and even that one will cost around $25,000. Tesla said it would come out in China soon, but there’s already a $10,000 alternative that has better self-driving tech and can now be charged twice as fast. Tesla’s car tech is uber out-dated.

Almost all of Tesla’s revenue comes from vehicle sales. Take a look at most any important financial metric and the company’s valuation is not only astronomical, but mostly the result of anticipated future sales of robotaxis and robots. This is part of the reason why JP Morgan thinks the stock will fall by roughly 50%.

Everything beyond vehicle sales for Tesla is Musk’s attempt to constantly distract investors with whatever shiny new toy he puts in front of them. He tells them that these new lines of business will accelerate Tesla into a new era. They will Make Tesla Great Again! Here’s why they won’t.

Tesla just canceled their roll-out of so-called “full self-driving” in China. Next up is their tiny demo of robotaxis in Texas they are planning for this coming June. A lot of Tesla’s stock price is banking on this taking off rapidly. But their competitors is ahead of them, not to mention that without Lidar tech, Tesla’s camera-based self-driving is blind.

Tesla’s “full self-driving” tech won’t be ready by its June demo. After promising the tech for something like 10 years now, and their company on the line, many suspect Tesla will use a version of what they tried to get away with at their most recent annual meeting.

Remember the massive grift they tried to pull off with their “We, Robot” event back in October 2024? It was produced on set at a Warner Bros Discovery studio. They led everyone to believe their “Optimus” robots were autonomous, that they were “AI-powered.” Then it turned out that the robots were remote controlled. If Tesla actually launches their tiny robotaxi effort this summer, you can bet that each of the robotaxis will be remote controlled. They actually started hiring for this back in October 2024.

Without car sales to prop up the company’s earnings, and with robotaxi revenue remaining minimal into the foreseeable future, where else can Musk turn in order to distract his investors? Will they sell more solar shingles or whole house batteries to already debt-ridden consumers? How about electric semi-trucks to an industry that’s been battling bankruptcies for years? No, because all of its existing lines of business are fundamentally dependent on middle class consumerism and that ship has been sinking since long before Trump started the tariff war.

Dark MAGA Musk wants “Legions” of Optimus Robots

At his March 20th surprise “all-hands meeting,” Musk said the Cybercab robotaxis and Optimus robots are the two most important aspects of Tesla’s current business model. He said this after urging workers to not sell their shares. Robotaxis aren’t going to do it, which leaves only mass robot manufacturing.

They’ll result in a 1000% increase in profits over 5 years, Musk said just a couple weeks before. Just like robotaxis though, they too require AI technology that’s not ready for mass production. NVIDIA’s CEO said recently that “this is a few-years-away problem.” Even here though, Chinese manufacturers produce far less expensive models and are ramping up production in the USA under Trump.

This doesn’t make the situation for replaceable workers any better, but this isn’t going to help Tesla’s immediate bottom line. Musk just has to keep the hype going so individual and institutional investors stop selling the company’s stock. Actual success from mass robot manufacturing requires replacing millions upon millions of workers with machines.

The threat no doubt includes factory workers at Tesla. Tesla’s business model is basically the movie, I Robot. Even the movie’s director said so. Musk is the evil capitalist who wants to take over the world. Similarly, one of Trump’s biggest Dark MAGA backers, Marc Andreessen of the Silicon Valley VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, said in late January that the goal of AI is to “crash human wages.” Larry Ellison, The Dark MAGA CEO of Oracle, is open about wanting an AI-powered authoritarian surveillance dystopia too.

Musk doesn’t trying to hide his Dark MAGA goals either. During the all-hands meeting, he said “I will say we are succeeding if we get half of the 10,000. But even 5,000 robots, that’s the size of a Roman legion.” He then went on to say that “”I think we will literally build a legion, at least one legion of robots this year and then probably 10 legions next year.” Why is his unit of measurement an ancient Roman legion of soldiers?

Well, the Dark MAGA movement has already made him their “American Caesar.” Like Benito Mussolini and Mark Zuckerberg, he wants to be another Augustus Caesar, seizing dictatorial power while forcing the republic’s collapse. Hitler just wanted to be Mussolini and Benito just wanted to be Augustus, so a Nazi salute and a Roman salute, it’s all just the same thing in different centuries. The cycle from “First” to “Third Reich” and around again.

The “Future is Autonomous” for Tesla’s Wanna-Be Ubermensch

Tesla’s future is a world where the only people who will be able to afford their cars, the only people who matter to them, are the Dark MAGA’s wanna-be ubermensch. Dark MAGA wants robots to do everything, so they can force the rest of us into the harshest “survival of the fittest” possible. Maybe he thinks he’ll have a “legion” of robot warriors by then too, but we can organize him much faster.

Regardless, that’s what Musk and Tesla mean when they say “the future is autonomous.” It’s a future where their wanna-be ubermensch exist autonomously from poor and working classes whose labor they will one day no longer need. Whether they believe it is sufficient to passively cast us aside and leave us to die, or actively exterminate us, seems like a more pressing question each day. If this sounds far-fetched, Dark MAGA architect Curtis Yarvin has long “joked” about liquidating humanity into biodiesel. It turns out they might actually believe another holocaust could be good for the climate.

Sadly, part of this has always been an aspect of Tesla’s business model. It’s Malthusian Social Darwinism either way, like the way Malcolm X used to contrast liberal “foxes” and conservative “wolves.” The wolf will kill you and eat you, while the fox will wait and eat you only after you die. Either way, middle classes always need to feed and Tesla has always pursued their autonomy from the rest of us.

Tesla’s future fundamentally depends on Dark MAGA. Musk is trying to save Tesla with fascism to secure power first and holocaust to get rid of us “unhumans” thereafter. But their bet is a long shot. They cannot replace us with robots if we resist. If we coordinate our resistance, Tesla’s stock price will crumble before too long.

Despite Musk’s chainsaw and their attempts to “flood the zone,” none of this is being done from a position of strength. If Trump and Mask fail in their desperate bid, their entire world will implode around them. They risk taking the rest of capitalism down with them.

Let’s help them take it down. Middle class liberal symbolic protest and anarchist acts of vandalism aren’t going to defeat Dark MAGA alone. Only working classes can do this by getting organized and withdrawing our labor, otherwise known as striking. By organizing assemblies in workplaces and communities, we can build an alternative to the dying capitalist settler colony we call the United States of America. We can bring the fascist government and its corporate enablers to their knees.
